Zelensky was the first of the presidents to hold talks with the new British Prime Minister Lizz Truss

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has become the first foreign leader to speak on the phone with new British Prime Minister Lizz Truss. He tweeted about it.

During the call, the President invited Truss to Ukraine. He also thanked Britain for the great defense and economic assistance. According to him, the country is ready to continue supporting Ukraine.

The leaders also discussed the participation of Britain in the restoration of Ukraine and the impact on Russia, Zelensky stressed.

“The goal is to stop the aggression and bring those responsible to justice. It is important to declare the Russian Federation a terrorist state. We will continue active cooperation in all formats.”

On September 5, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss became the new Prime Minister of the Kingdom. She has overtaken former UK Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak to become the leader of the ruling Conservative Party. Truss was replaced as prime minister by the resigned Boris Johnson. She is known for speaking harshly against Putin and his aggressive policies. In recent weeks, during the campaign for the post of leader of the party, Truss claimed that, even as prime minister, she would support Ukraine and give a tough rebuff to the aggressor. She promised that Zelensky would be the first person she called in her new post.

Like Sunak, Truss took the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher as her guide in her campaign. Wanting to please the members of the conservative party, Truss tries in every possible way to imitate her style. She tries to be like Thatcher both in clothes and in "toughness of statements". Truss herself denies this in every possible way, admitting, however, that she deeply respects Thatcher as a great leader.
