A bill was introduced to the State Duma to ban propaganda of “foreign childfree ideology” among children

A bill was introduced to the State Duma on Wednesday to ban propaganda of the “childfree subculture” among children. The document was developed by the deputies of the Kurultai (state assembly) of the Republic of Bashkortostan, it is posted in the Duma electronic database.

In an explanatory note, the authors of the project write that “the foreign childfree ideology, which has become widespread among Russian youth,” allegedly contradicts “traditional family values and state policy in Russia.” Some "followers" of this ideology, according to the deputies, are "supporters of hedonism" and "reduce the meaning of human existence to the satisfaction of exclusively personal needs." And this is allegedly destroying Russian society, and such ideas should not be disseminated among children.

“Propaganda of conscious childlessness, carried out by activists of the “childfree” movement, leads to the degradation of public institutions, the washing out of traditional value orientations, and creates circumstances for the depopulation of the population,” the document says.

What exactly will be considered such propaganda is not clear from the document.

In July, a draft law was submitted to the State Duma, completely prohibiting the promotion of non-traditional relationships and the denial of family values. It explicitly prohibited cinemas from issuing distribution certificates for films that “allow” it.
