Kommersant: VK requested 3 billion rubles from the Ministry of Digital Development for the development of a Russian game engine

VK requested 3 billion rubles from the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia to develop a Russian game engine. Kommersant writes about this, citing a source.

According to him, this issue was raised on September 2 at a meeting at the Ministry of Digital Development with the participation of one of the top managers of VK and Deputy Minister Maxim Parshin. As Kommersant writes, the Russian game engine "may become an analogue of foreign Unity or Unreal Engine." Information about such plans was confirmed to the publication both in VK and in the Ministry of Digital Development.

Earlier, Rostec came up with a similar initiative. Then the state corporation requested funds to finance the project from the funds of the Rosinfokominvest fund, but was refused by the Ministry of Digital Development. As an alternative, the department suggested that Rostec apply for a grant, for example, from the Russian Foundation for the Development of Information Technologies (RFRIT).

Kommersant, citing a source in Rostec, writes that the state corporation is already waiting for a form for filing an application from the Ministry of Digital Development. At the same time, she does not exclude that "VK could become a good partner."
