Secretary of the United Russia General Council Andrey Turchak and his family made money on the collapse of the military industry, and turned one arms factory into an elite mansion. This is stated in the investigation of the "Project".

Andrei Turchak's father, Anatoly, was Putin's deputy in the 1990s. At this time, he privatized the Leninets defense enterprise, which specialized in the production of radar and navigation equipment for the army and navy. Now, as the journalists found out, the Leninets buildings are divided among members of the Turchakov family: Anatoly, Andrei's wife Kira and his older brother Boris. Three quarters of these premises are not involved in production, but are rented out.

As follows from the extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, one of the enterprises of Leninets, the Research Institute Systemotechnics, was liquidated by Turchaks in 2019. This research institute worked for half a century and until recently was engaged in the production of the Novella military search and sighting system, which is necessary for naval aviation.

The "project" managed to find more than 100 non-residential buildings and 35 plots with a total area of almost half a million square meters, which are registered with companies associated with Leninets. The market value of a square meter of office space in St. Petersburg before the war was about 150,000 rubles. The publication notes that, according to rough calculations, the commercial real estate of the Turchakov family can cost about 50 billion rubles (about $850 million at the current exchange rate).

Only about a quarter of the Leninets buildings are occupied by defense enterprises, all the rest have turned into business centers, warehouses and industrial premises for rent. “They play defense. They imitate the work, but in fact they are trivial rentiers, ”a former top manager of one of the defense enterprises of Leninets told reporters.

With the money earned thanks to the Leninets premises, the Turchaks managed to acquire a large amount of real estate. As the investigators found out, they have at least 14 apartments, 7 plots and 5 houses. Their market value is about 1.5 billion rubles.

For example, Andrei Turchak's wife, Kira, owns two apartments with an area of 157 and 180 sq.m. on the Petrovskaya embankment in St. Petersburg. Their market value can now be about 200 million rubles. She also owns a plot in the village of Komarovo for 27 million rubles.

The daughter of Andrey Turchak, Sophia, at the age of 16, bought a 170-meter apartment in the Petrovsky Quarter on the Water residential complex. Its market value is more than 56 million rubles. Anatoly Turchak owns an apartment in Ermolaevsky Lane in Moscow worth 205 million rubles. Turchak's brother's wife Oksana owns two apartments in the Cosmos residential complex in St. Petersburg. Their approximate cost is 224 million rubles.

The research institute had a training ground on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, not far from the village of Logi. Equipment for detecting enemy submarines was tested there. After the liquidation of the research institute, the Turchaks erected an elite dacha on the site of the training ground and registered it in the name of the eldest son of Anatoly Turchak Boris. The “Proekt” filmed the territory from a drone – there is a large house with a swimming pool on it, worth from 200 to 500 million rubles.
