The Republic edition refused the status of the mass media registered in Roskomnadzor. The editors said in a statement that this was done on their own initiative. The validity of the Roskomnadzor certificate was terminated on September 1.
“It is important for us to engage in journalism and journalism. We make honest media that exists at the expense of subscribers' money. The presence of registration with Roskomnadzor in our case today no longer plays any role. Rather hinders than helps, ”the editorial said in a statement.
Moreover, in the near future, the site will stop labeling its materials with the mark “foreign agents,” the publication promises, since Moscow Digital Media LLC, included in the register of foreign agents, is no longer the publisher of Republic Magazine media.
In January, Republic found out why the Ministry of Justice included him on the list of “foreign agents”: the reason was the sale of a subscription to four embassies and one consulate of foreign countries, the Wall Street Journal bureau and two more foreign organizations.
