Another candidate for municipal deputies detained in Moscow

In Moscow, another candidate for municipal deputies in Sokolniki, the coordinator of the "Policy Space" Nikita Verzun, was detained, he was taken to the Sokolniki police department. This was reported by the municipal platform "Nomination" in Telegram. The politician and lecturer of Moscow State University Mikhail Lobanov also announced the detention on Twitter.

During the detention, Verzun was at PEC 1273, where three unidentified persons came. One of them told the policeman that charges had been brought against the candidate, after which Verzun was taken to the police station. Under what article he was charged, it is not specified.

Before the September elections in Russia, criminal and administrative cases against independent candidates are massively filed. So, on August 26, a candidate for deputies of the Basmanny district from Yabloko, a member of the Left Socialist Action, Nikita Arkin, was detained in Moscow. He is charged with an article on the demonstration of prohibited symbols (part 1 of article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). After the institution of criminal cases, candidates are deprived of the right to run for elections for the next year. On August 24, Nikolai Kasyan, a candidate for municipal deputies, was detained for the same reason. Similar charges were brought against candidates Marina Litvinovich, Mikhail Menshikov, and Vadim Korovin. and Tatyana Kasimova.
