Moscow police are checking one of the channels of journalist Ksenia Sobchak for propaganda of non-traditional relationships among teenagers. RIA Novostiwrites about this, citing a law enforcement source.
“The man asked to check the publications on the channel of journalist Ksenia Sobchak for LGBT propaganda among minors. The police are investigating,” the source said.
Sobchak herself explained that, apparently, we are talking about an interview with tennis player Daria Kasatkina:
“A certain very vigilant and very angry citizen by the name of Soldatov complained about him. Now our video will be analyzed by competent serious people and find out if it turns straight people into gays or not. <…> It is surprising (although not really) that LGBT propaganda is now ready to be considered even just a conversation with LGBT people about their lives.”
In July, the State Duma Committee on Information Policy proposed to ban "propaganda of non-traditional relations" in Russia, regardless of age. Deputy Alexander Khinshtein stated that the law would be considered in the autumn. It assumes administrative responsibility for "propaganda" regardless of the age of the audience. The law also prohibits the dissemination to children of any information that demonstrates "non-traditional sexual relations."
Now responsibility is provided only for the promotion of "non-traditional sexual relations among minors."
