Since the beginning of September, Ukraine has regained control of 6,000 km² of territory during a counteroffensive. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his video message following the results of the 201st day of the war. Earlier, the same information was voiced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its morning report reports that over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military has successfully repulsed Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Zaitsevo, Bakhmut, Bakhmutskoye, Krasnogorovka, Vodyanoye, Bezymyannoye and Novohrygorovka.
The Z-Telegram channel "Two Majors" in the report on the morning of September 13 writes that Russian troops left several settlements without a fight. Also, according to him, non-core Russian military continue to hold Krasny Lyman for the third day. Earlier, some pro-Kremlin bloggers also expressed concern that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would try to cross the Seversky Donets near Zakitny (about 15km southeast of Liman) in order to recapture Yampol. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) writes that the Liman-Yampol line is the next potential target for the UAF offensive.
In addition, according to ISW, Russian forces are leaving the eastern part of the Kharkiv region, as they cannot strengthen the new front line. Thus, they reportedly left Svatovo, Lugansk region (about 45 km east of the current Ukrainian positions along Oskol), and at the moment there are only “LPR” militia and local residents there.
Satellite imagery shows that all but four Russian vehicles in Kiselevka (15km northwest of Kherson) have moved away from their previous frontline positions. This confirms the information that the “DPR” troops left the village and retreated to the Dnieper. Kiselevka is an operationally important point for Russian troops around Kherson. This is the last major settlement on the E58 highway and on the railway line between the current positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Chernobaevka, the most remote part of the Kherson region.
The Russian military again attacked the municipal infrastructure of Ukraine. So, because of the shelling, the reserve line that fed the settlements of the Kharkov region failed, as a result of which the region was left without electricity. As the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine writes, infrastructure in the areas of the settlements of Belogorovka, Veselaya Dolina, Zaitsevo, Yuryevka, New York, Pervomayskoye, Kam, Stepnoye, Maly Shcherbaki, Dry Pond, Kostromka, Belaya Krinitsa and Mirnoye was damaged from air strikes and shelling of MLRS.
British intelligence in its report on the morning of September 13 writes about problems within the Russian army. According to the agency, part of the Russian troops withdrawn from the Kharkiv region over the past week belonged to the 1st Guards Tank Army, which is subordinate to the Western Military District (ZVO). This unit suffered heavy losses at the initial stage of the war and did not have time to reorganize before the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The 1st Guards Tank Army is one of the most prestigious Russian units, which, in the event of a war with NATO, would have to defend Moscow.
