The Kremlin is trying to buy ammunition for Soviet artillery systems from Tajikistan and is offering retired soldiers to go to war in Ukraine. This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine.
“Recently, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation turned to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan with a request to transfer 220-mm Uragan rocket launchers to the MLRS. The Russians are also interested in ammunition for up to 203-mm Pion self-propelled guns and UTD-20 engines for BMP-1 and BMP-2, which are stored in large quantities in the military warehouses of Tajikistan. Retired military personnel and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan are receiving offers to sign a contract with the Russian Armed Forces and take part in the war against Ukraine,” the GUR said.
Earlier, the media reported that Russia had purchased Iranian drones for the war in Ukraine, while some of them were already out of order. Earlier today (September 13), the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the first time shot down an Iranian Shahed-136 drone, which Russia tried to disguise as its Geran-2 drone.
In early September, the NYT also reported that Russia was buying millions of artillery shells and missiles from North Korea.
