French film director Jean-Luc Godard has died at the age of 91. This is reported by the French edition of Liberation.
Godard was one of the classics of the French New Wave in cinema. He is often cited as one of the movement's most influential directors and the most radical French director of the 1960s and 1970s. Godard was a recluse of the film world: much more than festivals and awards, he was interested in Marxism and existentialism.
Among the most famous works of Godard are “A Woman is a Woman” (1961), “To Live Your Life” (1962), “Mad Pierrot” (1965), “King Lear” (1987) and others. Last year, he announced that he would finish work on two films – "Script" and "Funny Wars" and end his career.
