The theme of the war in Ukraine was included in the course of history for Russian schoolchildren

The Ministry of Education brought the topic of the war in Ukraine into the history course for high school students, Mediazona drew attention .

The 86-page order amending educational standards, in particular, specifies the requirements for schoolchildren in the basic course of Russian history: “understanding the causes and consequences <…> of the reunification of Crimea with Russia, the special military operation in Ukraine and other major events of the XX beginning of the 21st century. The “geopolitical crisis of 2022” will also be added to the course on world history.

The day before, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that school teachers were detained in the settlements liberated from the Russian army. They came to the occupied territories to work in local schools according to Russian educational programs.

A few days after the start of the war, teachers in Russian schools began to be sent manuals with lesson plans on this topic. They substantiated the need for a “military operation” against the “fascist state” and prepared answers to possible questions from schoolchildren.
