Ivan Safronov’s lawyer Dmitry Talantov has been charged with a aggravated charge, he faces up to 15 years in prison – “First Department”

One of the defenders of the journalist Ivan Safronov and the head of the Chamber of Advocates of Udmurtia, Dmitry Talantov, were charged with a heavier charge. According to the human rights organization First Department, he was added an article on inciting hatred, now there are five episodes in Talantov's case, for which a lawyer can get up to 15 years in prison.

Talantov is charged with three episodes under paragraph d of Part 2 of Art. 207.3 (dissemination of fakes motivated by political hatred or enmity) and two episodes under point b of part 2 of Art. 282 (inciting hatred or enmity by a person using his official position) due to posts on Facebook.

According to the investigation, Talantov on Facebook "spread deliberately false information" and "formed in himself a dislike for the decision of the executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation."

On June 29, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow arrested Talantov, he was sent to a pre-trial detention center in the case of "fakes" about the Russian army. Before that, a criminal case was opened against Talantov under Art. 207.3 (public dissemination of deliberately false information about the actions of the RF Armed Forces).

Safronov himself was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony, as well as a fine of 500 thousand rubles and two years of restriction of freedom after his release in the case of “transferring classified information” about the Russian Armed Forces. Now Safronov is 32 years old. The accusation, as the publication "Project" found out, does not withstand any criticism. It is based only on conjectures: none of the “witnesses” knows anything about the “crimes” of the journalist, almost all the information that he allegedly transmitted and which is considered “state secret” is in the public domain.
