The Moscow City Court liquidated the Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers. Interfax writes about it.
Thus, the court satisfied the demand of the prosecutor's office. Earlier, the department announced "fatal violations" in the work of the trade union. For example, about the fact that members of the trade union participated in uncoordinated actions – in particular, in support of the journalist Ivan Safronov. Also, the prosecutor's office was not satisfied with the fact that the trade union collected money for the media-“foreign agents”.
According to the lawyer of the trade union Maxim Krupsky, at the meeting the prosecutor's office did not provide any convincing grounds for the liquidation of the organization. She could not refute the arguments of the defense either. The union intends to appeal against the ruling.
The trade union of journalists and media workers was established in 2016 by employees of Russian federal, regional and independent media. It consists of more than 600 journalists from 40 Russian regions who defend the rights of colleagues to professional activities. In early July, the Moscow City Court suspended the activities of the organization, allegedly due to the initiation of an administrative case on the "discredit" of the Russian army.
