A resident of the Ivanovo region was charged with “discrediting” the army for his speech during an appeal in court in an administrative case

Against a resident of the city of Shuya in the Ivanovo region, Sergei Veselov, a criminal case was opened on “discrediting” the army (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) because of his speech during the meeting on the appeal. Kholod writes about this with reference to the lawyer Oscar Cherdzhiev. His apartment was searched.

The new case appeared after Veselov’s speech on July 6 in court at a meeting to appeal a fine of 30 thousand rubles, to which he was sentenced for publishing a video on VKontakte of Alexei Navalny’s associate Leonid Volkov criticizing the war in Ukraine.

“What international peace did we support by destroying Severodonetsk? I don't understand, nobody explained it to me. I also don’t understand what powers of state bodies of the Russian Federation could arise in the city of Mariupol, ”Veselov said at the court hearing.

The Telegram channel "Caution, news" writes that because of this speech, a new one, this time a criminal case, was opened against him. Veselov recorded his speech at the appeal on camera and later posted it on YouTube – in it he also mentions Bucha (but without direct accusations) and says that “it is impossible to win a war against the whole world”, “Russia is heading towards disaster”, and hints to The Hague for those who were involved in the suppression of the anti-war movement.

If the information about the initiation of a criminal case is confirmed, then it will be the third for Veselov – all these cases were initiated because of his anti-war position.

The first case was opened in August. The reason was a video on Veselov's YouTube channel with 16 subscribers. In March, he was charged with vandalism over a "No War" sign on the Shuya city administration.
