The United States imposed sanctions against Kadyrov, his wives and daughters because of the war in Ukraine

The United States imposed sanctions against the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, as well as his three wives and three daughters because of the war in Ukraine. This is stated in a statement by the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC).

In total, OFAC listed 22 individuals and two entities, including several individuals who assisted the Russian government before and during the invasion of Ukraine.

Sanctions were imposed against Russian presidential aide Maxim Oreshkin, general director of the National Payment Card System (Mir card operator) Vladimir Komlev, children's ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, head of the National Settlement Depository Viktor Zhidkov. In addition, the list of the Ministry included officials appointed by Russia from the occupied Zaporozhye region: administration representative Vladimir Rogov and deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Major Alexei Selivanov.

Kadyrov is described in the message as a "cruel military leader" associated with torture and murder. The Ministry of Finance also noted that he was participating in the mobilization of Chechens for the war in Ukraine, and Chechen units were operating in Bucha.

“Kadyrov amassed a huge fortune thanks to his close relationship with Vladimir Putin. He has a house in the United Arab Emirates, a private zoo, expensive personal cars and a donation fund."

In addition, sanctions have been imposed against women whom the department calls Kadyrov's wives – Medni Musaevna Kadyrova, Fatima Shaikhievna Khazueva, Aminat Akhmadova. Also under the sanctions were the daughters of the head of Chechnya – Aishat Kadyrova, Karina Kadyrova and Tabarik Kadyrova.

On September 15, Kadyrov called for "self-mobilization" in each individual region. According to him, Russia is a federal state in which the regions "can be the initiators of any undertakings." The head of the republic believes that each head of the region "is able to prepare, train and staff at least one thousand volunteers." "Kavkaz.Realii" found out that the administration of the head of Chechnya had prepared a draft resolution on the mobilization of conscripts from October 1 to the end of the year. The document will concern local residents born in 1995-2004.
