There was a skirmish at several sections of the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the Batken region. At the beginning of the conflict, the parties blamed each other: Kyrgyzstan claims that the Tajik side started shelling at 6 am, “treacherously attacking civilian objects.” Tajikistan also reported "mortar bombing and shelling" of residential buildings and civilian facilities from Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, 18 people were injured on the Kyrgyz side. From the Tajik side, according to media reports, two servicemen were killed, 11 people were injured – 6 border guards and 5 local residents.
Tajikistan claims that a proposal was put forward on its part to cease fire and proceed to negotiations, but the military of Kyrgyzstan "ignored these proposals." The border service of Kyrgyzstan reports on the ongoing shelling from the Tajik side.
On September 14, several skirmishes took place at the border. As a result of the shooting, two Tajik servicemen were killed, several people from both sides were injured. The reason for the regular conflicts between the two countries is the undelimited border. Its length is 970 kilometers, 519 of which are specified, and the rest remains undescribed.
