During the war in Ukraine, at least 389 children were killed, at least 756 were injured of varying severity. It is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine. The agency clarifies that this is not final data, as the count of victims continues in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
The largest number of children affected by Russian military aggression was recorded in:
- Donetsk region – 394,
- Kharkiv – 218,
- Kievskaya – 116,
- Nikolaevskaya – 72,
- Chernihiv – 68,
- Luhansk – 61,
- Kherson – 55,
- Zaporozhye – 46,
- Dnepropetrovsk – 26.
The Prosecutor General's Office also reports on the latest recorded cases:
- On September 14, in Kherson, a family with two daughters, aged 8 and 12, was killed as a result of Russian shelling;
- It became known that on September 5, as a result of shelling by Russian troops of the village of Novaya Gusarovka, Izyumsky district, Kharkov region, a 14-year-old teenager was killed;
- On March 9, a family with two girls aged 5 and 8 died in Izyum, this became known as a result of an investigation into crimes committed by the Russian military in the recently liberated territories;
- On September 15, as a result of the shelling of Svyatogorsk, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, a 17-year-old boy was injured;
- On September 16, as a result of Russian shelling of Kharkov, two children aged 5 and 17 were injured.
Also, due to the bombing and shelling by Russian troops, 2,500 educational institutions in Ukraine were damaged. Of these, 289 were completely destroyed.
