Chelyabinsk anarchists were sentenced to 1 year and 9 months in prison for the banner “FSB is the main terrorist”

Chelyabinsk anarchists (and spouses) Dmitry Tsibukovsky and Anastasia Safonova were sentenced to one year and nine months in a penal colony for the banner “FSB is the main terrorist.” This was announced by the head of the human rights project "Agora" Pavel Chikov.

According to the prosecution, in February 2018, activists hung a banner with the inscription “FSB is the main terrorist” on the fence of the building of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Chelyabinsk Region, and Tsibukovskiy lit a fire and threw it on the territory where the building is located. Thus, the activists, according to the prosecution, “brazenly and cynically” violated public order in order to express their political will and political opinion.

In September last year, the court sentenced Tsibukovsky to two and a half years, and Safonova to two years in prison in this case. Two months later, the lawyers were able to get the verdict overturned, after which the criminal case was sent for a new trial to the court of first instance, and the activists were released from the pre-trial detention center under a ban on certain actions.
