“Pugacheva’s act is a symbol of changes in public opinion” – political scientist Dmitry Oreshkin

Alla Pugacheva is a person known in Russia in much the same way as Princess Diana or the Queen among the British, and her opinion means something to many. A lot of people will wonder one way or another why she said that. It is clear that opinions will be divided: the “patriotic” public will begin to say that “grandma has gone crazy” or that she was paid. But we are not interested in the "patriotic" public, but in that part of the population that makes up the silent majority in Putin's support group. According to sociologists, now there are 75% of them, while 25% of them are desperate "patriots" who want to fight, demand the continuation of the banquet and accuse Putin of weakness, and the remaining 50% are a swamp or a halo around the core, which simply joins to what seems to him to be the majority. Alla's statement will influence these 50%, and not in favor of the Kremlin.

Her statement is hard to ignore, because she is a personality of such magnitude that it is impossible to silence her. One way or another, her statement is quoted, albeit in a truncated form , because they are forced to quote.

It became clear to people that this was not a special operation, but a war, and a big one with losses.

This announcement was one of many signs that Russian public opinion, sociology and the military campaign are entering some new status. It became clear to people that this was not a special operation, but a war, and a big one with losses, that no small victorious war was in sight, but there was a difficult, painful and bloody one. And these rescue curtains, which the mass consciousness has set up for itself, are collapsing: “well, this is not a war”, “this does not concern us”, “now our professionals will quickly bend Ukraine, put the West in its place, and we will rise from our knees.” All this shnyaga is losing its relevance every day, and this can be seen from a number of indirect sociological parameters. People still say that they support Putin, but not so confidently. It’s not good to say that I don’t support anymore, because I supported it two months ago, which means that I’m a fool and I was wrong, so there is still support, but without enthusiasm, rather out of a sense of duty.

Such a statement is difficult to ignore, because this is a personality of such magnitude that it is impossible to silence her.

Disappointment is manifested in the fact that people have become half as interested in events in order not to be upset – they say, I will reassure myself that I am not interested in this. Trust in Russian television as a source of information is declining. No, they did not believe in other sources, they simply say: "Everyone lies, ours too, everything is rotten, and everything needs to be changed." There are relatively slow changes in public opinion, and what Alla Borisovna spoke out is a consequence of these changes. She could have been silent for a long time, because she is not a political figure, she no longer speaks and it did not concern her personally. Maybe she would have been silent further, but Galkin was hooked from a “big” mind – they say, all these dubious comrades should be punished – and she take it and the answer came. She is a woman of character. She was expected to remain silent, but she did not.

What will they do with Pugacheva? Will they be sent to Siberia? Well no. Take away the estate? Yes, too, no, it will be embarrassing to look and will not add points to anyone. It turns out that the way Pugacheva did is possible . Some kind of kindergarten logic lives in the Soviet mind: if the teacher said to go, then we go, and such speeches by Pugacheva, Gozman or Venediktov, that is, people who are not afraid to conflict with the authorities, are wildly enraged, because “we sit and like bunnies we obey, and then someone crawls out against the authorities. On the other hand, this gives another part of the people an example that it is possible to do this: “What will they do?” This is both a symptom and a sign, and a manifestation of what can be called a turning point in the current Russian life. Putin is losing the war. This is not yet realized by public opinion, but will soon be realized. Putin is losing popularity and is not in control of the situation in many key respects. The only question is when a boy will appear who will shout loudly enough that the king is naked. In fact, boys scream it all the time, but people try not to listen. At some point, they will ripen and say: "Yes, but the king is naked." It seems to me that Alla Borisovna's statement just brings this maturation closer.

And yet – this is an obvious banter. The worst thing for such regimes and leaders is when they are laughed at. Putin used to be a man with a sense of humor, and now he is forced to be brutally serious and boring, and he is already almost openly trolled. Zelensky trolls him, Pugacheva trolls him, many Ukrainian media troll him, and since he is funny, he is no longer scary. The feeling of empty space is not yet realized, but it manifests itself, because even Putin's patriots begin to laugh at him, which means that the attempt to become a great leader has fizzled out.

The attitude towards him is almost the same as in grandfather Brezhnev, only more bloody. The country laughed at Brezhnev, at his shaking jaw and his impotence to change something, and they laugh at Putin, only somehow they laugh evilly. There was a bit of venomous laughter over Brezhnev, but there was no hatred, and Putin is not only laughed at, but despised. Another two or three months will pass, and the same military units will say: "Listen, who are you to command us." It will be a total disaster. You have to live up to it, and Alla Pugacheva took one of the serious steps in this direction.
