The number of people who left or forcibly moved from Ukraine to Russia turned out to be an order of magnitude less than what was announced by the Russian authorities. This wasreported by the Civic Assistance Committee, a Russian public charitable organization for helping refugees.
As of June 30, 2022, only 27 people from Ukraine had official refugee status. At the same time, only three people were officially recognized as refugees in the first six months of 2022. In addition to the status of "refugee" in Russia, there is the status of "temporary asylum". For the first half of 2022, according to the statistics of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, 64,579 people received it, the vast majority of which are from Ukraine – 64,233 people, or 99.5% of the total.
In the first six months of this year, 105,639 people who fled or forcibly displaced from Ukraine received Russian citizenship. It is noteworthy that 184,385 people did this in the same period last year.
In early August, Russian pro-Kremlin media reported that about 3.2 million Ukrainian refugees had arrived in Russia since the start of the war.
