Sunflower oil producer Oleina leaves Russia

The American agro-industrial company Bunge leaves the Russian market. This is stated in the message on her website.

It states that the entire business will be sold to businessman Karen Vanetsyan, the controlling shareholder of Exoil Group. The deal includes a sunflower processing plant in Voronezh.

Bunge is a world leader in the processing of oilseeds and the production of vegetable oils and fats. The plant in the Kashirsky district of the Voronezh region was launched in 2008, then its cost was estimated at $130 million. Bunge owned the Oleina and Ideal sunflower oil brands, and their production volume reached 200 million bottles per year. According to Kommersant, in 2020 the company occupied 10.3% of the domestic market for bottled sunflower oil.

Since February 24 and the start of the war against Ukraine, more than 1,000 companies have left Russia. Among them are DELL, Microsoft, Netflix, Inditex, McDonald's, Johnson & Johnson, H&M and others. Due to the exit from the Russian market, McDonald's lost $4.01 billion, Microsoft – $126 million, H&M – $190 million, Inditex – $300 million.
