United Russia deputy Dmitry Vyatkin said that he and his colleagues could not go to war, because “there are citizens” behind them, although, in his opinion, going to the front is “the easiest decision”:
“To write a statement and go to the front is the easiest decision. But behind each of us, behind all our parties, there are citizens who live ordinary lives. As if there are two realities: one front-line and one peaceful. Holidays, fireworks, entertainment venues are full of people. Nevertheless, we have a duty and a responsibility to convey the importance and criticality of today's situation to everyone with whom we can speak and who we can reach."
Earlier today (September 21), Putin announced the mobilization in Russia. The decree was published on the Kremlin website. This was followed by a statement by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to him, 300,000 reservists will be called up.
In early September, the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev, stated a few days ago that he would go to Ukraine as a volunteer, but he could not, because he had no right to leave his responsible post. Against this background, residents of the Khabarovsk Territory created a petition with a proposal to “help the governor fulfill his dream, go to fight in the Donbass”, it was signed by several tens of thousands of people.
