Moscow prosecutor’s office threatened protesters against mobilization for up to 15 years

The Moscow prosecutor's office warned participants in possible protests about responsibility for "participation in uncoordinated public actions" – after activists of the Vesna movement and supporters of Alexei Navalny called on Russians to protest against mobilization for war.

“On the Internet, including on social networks, information is posted calling for participation in public actions in Moscow and the commission of other illegal acts. <…> We explain that both the organization of an unapproved event and participation in it, as well as the involvement of minors in such events, entail liability established by Russian law, ”the agency’s website says.

They listed articles that could be used against participants: “violating the procedure for holding a rally” (20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, a maximum of 30 days of arrest can be given), “discrediting” the army (20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, a fine of up to 100 thousand rubles), “involving a minor in antisocial actions" (151 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, maximum – 6 years), as well as "fakes" about the army (207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, up to 15 years) and "mass riots" (212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, also up to 15 years).

President Vladimir Putin on September 21 announced a partial mobilization in Russia. After that, the activists called on the Russians to go to protests in their cities. Thus, the Vesna movement announced an all-Russian action to be held at 19:00 local time.

People have already begun to take to the streets – so far in Siberia and the Far East. While the actions are not numerous, in Khabarovsk people came out without posters. In some cities, for example, in Irkutsk, detentions began .
