Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that 5937 Russian soldiers were killed in the war in Ukraine. This is the third announcement of the dead for the entire time of the war.

The last time the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the dead was on March 25 – then the department said that 1,351 soldiers had died. Thus, according to the Ministry of Defense, 4,586 Russian soldiers were killed during the six months of the war.

Shoigu also said that more than 90% of the wounded during the "special operation" returned to duty.

According to the latest data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU), 55,110 Russian soldiers were killed during the war.
