The Supreme Court of Crimea issued sentences to defendants in the case of sabotage on a gas pipeline in Crimea. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".
The deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelal, received 17 years in a strict regime colony, the brothers Asan and Aziz Akhtemov received 15 and 13 years of a strict regime, respectively. Also, all three were assigned one and a half years of restriction of freedom after the end of the term and fines: Dzhelalu – 700 thousand rubles, Akhtemovs – 500 thousand rubles each.
Initially, the state prosecution asked for 15 years in prison for all three and a fine of 600 thousand rubles each. The prosecutor also asked to send the convicts to prison for the first three years of their term, but the court refused.
All three are charged with sabotage committed by a group of persons (paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code), illegal possession of explosives by a group of persons (part 4 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code) and smuggling of explosive devices by an organized group (part 3 article 226.1 of the Criminal Code). The investigation claims that in August 2021, on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, the Akhtemovs staged an explosion on a gas pipeline in the Crimean village of Perevalnoye, which led to a short-term shutdown of gas supply. Dzhelal, according to investigators, introduced the brothers to one of the alleged customers.
Earlier, the Akhtemovs spoke about the torture they experienced. According to Asan, he was shocked by applying wires to his earlobes. Aziz also spoke about the electric shocks.
