HRC member Kirill Kabanov announced the development of proposals according to which for “new” citizens of Russia (those who have citizenship for less than 10 years), people from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, military service will be mandatory for a year.
“Refusal to perform military duty should entail the deprivation of Russian citizenship not only for the person liable for military service, but also for members of his family,” Kabanov said.
According to him, this "would be an adequate response to the official ban on the part of the authorities of the above-mentioned countries on the participation of their citizens in the SVO on a voluntary basis, for which they face criminal punishment in their homeland."
The day before, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia stated that citizens of the republic face criminal liability for participating in hostilities abroad – with a penalty of imprisonment for 10 years with confiscation of property. The same statement was made by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.
