German authorities: Russians evading mobilization can receive political asylum in Germany

The German authorities stated that the evasion of mobilization is a compelling reason for the positive consideration of the application for political asylum in Germany. The same applies to deserters, according to DW.

A corresponding instruction has been given to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

The day before, German Interior Minister Nancy Feiser said that the German authorities are ready to accept deserters from the Russian army and opponents of the Putin regime. An interview with her was published by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.

Prior to Russia's announcement of "partial mobilization" in Germany, it was stated that refusal to serve in the army and desertion are not grounds for protecting citizens of the Russian Federation.
