The FSB detained the consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok “upon receiving information of limited distribution”

The FSB announced the detention of the consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok, RIA Novosti reports .

According to the report, the consul was detained "when receiving for money information of limited distribution about the current aspects of Russia's cooperation with one of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the impact of the Western sanctions policy on the economic situation in Primorsky Krai."

Russia protested to the Japanese side through diplomatic channels, and the consul was declared persona non grata.

The FSB claims that the diplomat admitted his guilt and publishes a video, presumably, of a meeting during which he was detained. In the video, a man (apparently this is a consul) and a woman are having dinner in a restaurant, the man is sitting with his back to the camera, the woman's face is blurred. The video has no sound and is not accompanied by any commentary.
