The court gave up to 3.5 years in prison to three employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service who beat a prisoner to death

The Zavolzhsky District Court of Yaroslavl sentenced employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service who tortured a prisoner to death with a baton to terms of up to 3.5 years in prison. This was reported by the human rights organization "Public Verdict". Earlier, the prosecutor's office requested the same period.

Federal Penitentiary Service employees Sergey Gusarin and Vyacheslav Shashkin received 3 years in prison, Sergey Kuzmin – 3 years 6 months in prison. They all pleaded guilty and repented.

The Fsinovites were accused of exceeding official powers with the use of violence and weapons or special means.

In 2021, the media published a video of prisoners being tortured in 2016–2017. Among them was Vazha Bochorishvili, a Georgian citizen who died from injuries sustained during torture. The representative of the deceased, Irina Biryukova, earlier in a conversation with Mediazona, said that Gusarin and Shashkin kept Bochorishvili on the table, and beat Kuzmin.
