On September 25, Gazeta.kg published an article by Alisa Andreeva under the heading “Referenda declared valid. Zelensky ruled out negotiations with Moscow after they are completed.” In particular, it says :
“More than half of the voters voted in the Zaporozhye region as well – there the turnout was 51.55%, including those who voted abroad. This was told by the head of the election commission of the region Galina Katyushchenko. According to her, more than 85,000 citizens of the region took part in the referendum in three days, of which over 32,000 voted outside of it.”
On the same day, Interfax published a message entitled “The turnout at the referendum in the Zaporozhye region over three days of voting exceeded 51%,” and there, with reference to the same Galina Katyushchenko, it was said :
“Voting is organized in four out of five districts of the Zaporozhye region – these are the territories that are under the control of the Russian Federation. About 500,000 people are included in the voter lists.”
It is hardly possible to explain the figure given by Gazeta.ru with a simple typo: if you accidentally missed the number 2 and should have read “more than 285,000 citizens”, then you would get 57% of 500,000, and not 51.5%. So it remains only to assume that the publication inadvertently named the real number of participants in the "referendum" – only about 17% of the list of voters.
