Suspects of arson of military enlistment office and administration in Samara and Orenburg regions detained

In the city of Tolyatti, Samara Region, and the city of Gai, Orenburg Region, suspects of setting fire to administration buildings and the military registration and enlistment office were detained.

In Tolyatti, 35-year-old Pavel Korshunov, a local resident, was detained. This is reported by Kommersant-Volga, citing law enforcement sources. According to police, Korshunov set fire to the administration using a Molotov cocktail. According to the publication, Korshunov previously participated in protests in the Samara region, he was brought to administrative responsibility. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (assistance to terrorist activities). According to Samara Vestnik, the man said he set fire to the building, protesting against the mobilization in Russia.

A 33-year-old man was detained in Gai, who is suspected of setting fire to the military enlistment office, Gai.rf reports . The publication writes that a criminal case has been opened against him. Other details are unknown.

In Tolyatti, the door and porch of the city administration building on Belorusskaya Street were set on fire on September 22. The porch burned down, the windows in the doors were broken, soot was visible at the entrance. The city administration confirmed the arson. Also on the night of September 22, the military registration and enlistment office in Gaya was on fire. Judging by the photo, the wall was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire. The fire did not spread throughout the building, only one wall was damaged from the side of the facade.

In Russia, after the announcement of mobilization on September 21, military enlistment offices and administrative buildings began to burn with renewed vigor. They began to set fire to them immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, but now the phenomenon has become widespread.
