The US Embassy in Moscow urged its citizens to immediately leave Russia: diplomats are worried that Russia, as part of a “partial mobilization”, may call up people with dual citizenship for military service. The statement is published on the website of the embassy.
The embassy also fears that Russia may deny US citizens access to consular assistance and prevent them from leaving Russia.
"U.S. citizens should not visit Russia, and those who reside in or travel within Russia should leave Russia immediately while limited commercial travel opportunities remain."
Citizens were reminded that the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech is not guaranteed in Russia, and advised to avoid "any political or social protest" and not to photograph security personnel. According to the embassy, Russian authorities have arrested US citizens participating in the demonstrations.
Earlier, military expert Sergei Grabsky told The Insider that Vladimir Putin's words about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons are nothing more than a bluff. He emphasized that there is a serious monitoring and control system for all nuclear facilities and cited the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP as an example, when everyone “expressed concern” about the situation for a long time, but as soon as three radiation monitoring sensors in the ZNPP area stopped responding to requests and signals, they instantly was the IAEA mission. The expert clarified that in the case of "uncharacteristic movements" at nuclear facilities, the reaction of the world community would be instantaneous. According to him, it is not necessary to use nuclear weapons in response, it is enough to inflict a targeted strike on an object – and it will be impossible to use a nuclear weapon.
