The radio station "Echo of Moscow" will be restarted under the name "Echo". This was told by project manager Maxim Kournikov on the air of the Dozhd channel.
According to him, the new media will combine the content produced by the former journalists of the radio station. Kournikov emphasized that they would not depend on the editorial board:
“We will not dictate to them what to do. Our task is to technologically combine them. I think that this will be an application through which you can listen to Echo, and a website, just like the website of Echo of Moscow used to be.”
Earlier, on air with journalist Alexander Plushev, Kournikov said that Living Nail, Dilettant, and the airs of Plushev himself and Tatyana Felgenhauer would join Echo. It is alleged that "Echo" will exist on donations. The project is scheduled to launch on Monday, October 3rd.
After the start of the war in Ukraine, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office demanded that access to the Ekho Moskvy website be restricted and the radio broadcast blocked. The department said that the radio station "publishes false information about the actions of the Russian military as part of a special operation to protect the DPR and LPR." After that, the board of directors of Ekho Moskvy decided to liquidate the radio channel and the station's website.
