Russian boxer and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Tourism Committee Nikolai Valuev received a summons as part of the mobilization. He spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia.
“The only thing is that my colleagues are great, they got on the military register in the State Duma and received a summons here, and I have to go home. We had a lot of visiting meetings, the agenda came right before the trip to Donbass, and I was not at home. Next week I will definitely go, I will appear at the military registration and enlistment office, ”said Valuev.
It is noteworthy that, according to the law, Valuev is exempt from “partial” mobilization, as he is an active member of the State Duma. However, the experience of his colleagues shows that deputies can go to war as volunteers. Earlier, such a request was made by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Vitaly Milonov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection Dmitry Khubezov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Defense Dmitry Sablin and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy Sergei Sokol.
