Ukraine returned six people from Russian captivity. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
Four Marines returned from captivity – officers Aleksey Bulakhov and Nikolai Kostenko, soldiers Lyudmila Gerasimenko and Ivan Zemlyanoy, and two civilian Ukrainians – Victoria Andrusha and Yana Maiboroda. According to human rights activist Olga Romanova, Ukrainian and Russian activists and human rights activists have been looking for them for six months.
“We knew that they were placed in a pre-trial detention center in the Kursk region. They were also in the pre-trial detention center of the Bryansk region, Belgorod. But to all inquiries, everywhere – to the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the military prosecutor's office, the ordinary prosecutor's office – we were answered the same thing: they will not be there, ”Romanova wrote in her Telegram channel.
According to Yermak, the Russian military captured Viktoria Andrusha on March 27, after they found data on Russian equipment transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine on her phone. Yana Mayboroda was also captured because of the information found on her phone. It is alleged that she photographed Russian equipment on the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The released soldiers, according to Yermak, took part in the battles for Mariupol.
It is not specified by what formula the exchange was carried out. The Russian side also did not give any comments.
