Russia recognized the “independence” of the Kherson region, although the occupying authorities did not proclaim it

Russia recognized the "state sovereignty and independence" of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, according to the decree of Vladimir Putin, on September 29. As Elena Lukyanova, Doctor of Law, points out, this was done in a hurry and after the “referendums” were held in order to maintain at least some semblance of a legal procedure.

At the same time, the very declaration of "independence" of the regions contradicts the statements of their "authorities". So, earlier in the Kherson military-civilian "administration" it was stated that independence would not be declared. “We have a slightly different situation than the LPR and DPR, the Kherson region is immediately part of the Russian Federation,” said Vladimir Saldo, head of the CAA.

Today (September 30) in the Kremlin, agreements will be signed on "the entry into Russia of new territories": Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the "farce" that took place in the occupied territories "cannot even be called an imitation of a referendum."
