The prosecutor’s office demands to ban the movement “Spring”, which became one of the organizers of anti-war actions

The St. Petersburg prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit with the city court to recognize the Vesna movement as extremist. This was reported on the website of the prosecutor's office. According to the department, the movement creates conditions for destabilizing the social and socio-political situation in Russia.

“It has been established that his activities are aimed at undermining public security and the foundations of the constitutional order of the Russian Federation. The movement creates conditions for the destabilization of the social and socio-political situation in the country, and public opinion is being formed about the need to change power in the Russian Federation, ”the city prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

It is noted that on Friday the prosecutor's office filed an administrative claim with the court to recognize the Vesna movement as an extremist organization. It was also decided to suspend the activity of the movement.

Vesna was one of the main organizers of anti-war protests.

In May 2022, a case was opened against several leaders and members of the movement for participation in the activities of an organization that encroaches on the life and health of citizens (part 3 of article 239 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Activists Yevgeny Zateev and Valentin Khoroshenin were detained. Searches were carried out in their apartments, equipment was confiscated. Today, September 30, as part of this case, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions until December 11 for Khoroshenin and Zateev.
