The US authorities announced the introduction of new sanctions after the signing in the Kremlin of agreements on the entry into Russia of the LDNR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This is stated in a statement on the website of the US Treasury.
According to the document, the US sanctions affected dozens of individuals and legal entities. In particular, the list included a number of members of the State Duma and the Federation Council, as well as family members of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The United States also imposed sanctions against the wife and son of Dmitry Medvedev.
Also, the Scientific and Technical Center for Electronic Warfare JSC, Modul CJSC, Novostream LLC, Radioavionics, Svetlogorskkhimvolokno OJSC and other enterprises and related citizens were also subject to restrictions.
At the same time, Canada imposes sanctions against 43 Russian businessmen, representatives of the "financial elites" and their families.
"Canada does not and will never recognize the results of these bogus referendums or Russia's attempted illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories," the Canadian government's website says .
On September 30, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the accession to Russia of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as the so-called LPR and DPR. The annexation was preceded by a four-day "referendum", as a result of which the Russian state media announced: in the "DNR" 99.23% voted for joining, in the "LNR" – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87%, in Zaporozhye – 93.11 % of residents.
