The State Duma approved the occupation of four regions of Ukraine and recognized them as part of Russia

The State Duma voted for the accession to Russia of the "DPR" and "LPR", as well as the partially occupied Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The entry of the Donetsk, Luhansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation is the only way to save millions of people's lives from the criminal Kyiv regime. Stop shelling the civilian population, the elderly, women and children. To defend the right to one's native language, culture, history, one's faith," Volodin wrote.

As the Agency draws attention, more deputies voted for the accession of new regions to Russia than were present in the hall. Commenting on the results, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin admitted that there had been a "technical failure."

Thus, the number of subjects in Russia has increased to 89 since today.

The Russian Constitutional Court has already recognized the annexation of the occupied territories. Now the Federation Council must approve the documents.
