Putin changed the Russian Constitution again. Changes to the text were made after the annexation of the regions of Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin again changed the country's constitution, for the second time during his terms. Now he signed a decree on the publication of the text of the Constitution with amendments on the basis of laws on the “acceptance into Russia” of the annexed “LPR” and “DPR”, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

On the same day, another decree signed by Putin appeared on the official portal of legal information: on the acceptance of the objects of the occupied ZNPP into federal ownership.

On March 14, 2020, Putin signed the law on amendments to the Constitution (“On improving the regulation of certain issues of the organization and functioning of public authorities”). Before that, the legislative assemblies of all 85 regions of Russia supported the amendments to the Constitution. United Russia deputy Valentina Tereshkova proposed that the presidential terms be reset for the incumbent president after the entry into force of the new version of the basic law. Putin agreed to the amendment on the condition that it would be approved by the Constitutional Court.

Putin proposed a number of amendments to the Constitution in his annual address to the Federal Assembly on January 15, 2020. And already on January 23, the State Duma approved the bill in the first reading.
