From the mass grave, discovered in the liberated Ukrainian Armed Forces city of Liman in the Donetsk region, they got the first 20 bodies of the dead. Among those exhumed is a family with two small children. This was reported by the national police of Ukraine. According to law enforcement agencies, two mass graves were found in Liman, one contains about 200 bodies, the other contains about 20. Excavations continue at both locations at once. Among the dead are the bodies of civilians and Ukrainian soldiers.

The police received information about the mass grave in Liman from local residents. According to the witness, he buried about 20 Ukrainian soldiers here on the orders of the Russian military. The civilians were buried in single graves, the military – in a trench 40 meters long.

The National Police also noted that some of the graves have plaques with the data of the dead, while others are nameless. However, in each case, the police take biological samples and appoint an examination to identify the dead and determine the cause of death.

At the excavation site, investigative teams, forensic experts and forensic experts work together with the prosecutor's office. The exhumation is being carried out as part of a criminal case opened under Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On October 1, the Ukrainian military took Liman under their control. Soon the loss of control over Liman was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
