Muscovite with spinal muscular atrophy received a summons

Moscow resident Oleg Vasiliev, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), received a summons, the Diagnosis Live organization reported on Instagram. The organization is dedicated to helping adult patients with SMA, as they do not receive expensive drugs from the state, despite the fact that they are prescribed drugs by law.

As Vasiliev himself told Mediazone, the summons was thrown into the mailbox. He is not going to go along it to the military registration and enlistment office of the Khoroshevsky district of Moscow, including because the necessary office is located on the fourth floor of the military registration and enlistment office, which is a serious problem for a wheelchair user.

Vasiliev also noted that he had previously lived in Primorsky Krai. “The local military enlistment office has all the papers about me. Why didn’t they make a request or they didn’t transfer the data, ”Vasiliev said.

Adult patients with SMA in Russia are actually deprived of any help, expensive drugs are not included in the list of high-cost nosologies, then drugs will be purchased at the expense of the federal budget. For the treatment of adults with SMA, there are Spinraza and Evrisdi. Both drugs are prescribed for life, regardless of the type of SMA and age. They differ in the way they are administered: Spinraza is an injection into the spinal cord. In the first year of treatment, six injections are made, then three. One bottle costs almost 5 million rubles. "Evrisdi" is a syrup that you need to drink daily. Its price is 700 thousand rubles per package.

The State Fund "Circle of Kindness" provides medicines only to patients under 18 years of age. For adults with SMA, of whom there are 314 people in Russia, drugs must be purchased by regional authorities, but in reality no one buys anything.
