Reuters: International Committee of the Red Cross suspends work in Ukraine

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has suspended its activities in Ukraine. It is reported by Reuters with reference to a representative of the organization.

The report states that the ICRC suspended work on 10 October for security reasons.

On the morning of October 10, Russia launched a massive shelling of almost all non-occupied regions of Ukraine. By 10 a.m. Kyiv time, 75 missiles had been fired , 41 of them shot down, said Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny. By 11 am, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar, citing the General Staff, said that 83 missiles had already been fired at the cities of Ukraine, 43 of them had been shot down by air defense.

In April, the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets, told The Insider that the International Red Cross, in violation of all the rules, opened a representative office in the Rostov region and helps to take people to Russia. According to all international conventions, the organization is obliged to help the evacuation of the civilian population only if it is agreed by the two parties to the conflict.

“Ukraine has never given permission for the Mariupol-Novoazovsk-Rostov corridor, but the Red Cross is actively helping Russia. We record this data, and people confirm it. We have two Red Crosses – international and Ukrainian, they are different organizations. And it is the international that actually plays along with Russia.”

In July, Nestka found out that the Russian branch of the Red Cross (RKK), which according to the charter must maintain independence, promotes the war in Ukraine, including distributing mugs with Z-symbols and portraits of Vladimir Putin to refugees. At the same time, public organizations talk about the connection between the RKK and the Presidential Administration. Now the Russian Red Cross has 100 thousand members and 84 regional branches throughout the country, it remains a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. However, these organizations are not interconnected, none of them is subordinate to the other.
