Ukrainian Forbes calculated how much the massive shelling of Ukrainian cities on October 10 cost the Russian budget. The total cost of missiles fired by the Russian army is estimated at $400-700 million.
The publication, citing official statements (and at the time of publication of the material), writes about the strike by 84 cruise missiles, in addition, 24 drones were involved, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down more than half of the missiles – 43, as well as 13 UAVs. Forbes estimated the cost of fired missiles in a wide range – the exact number of missiles of each type is unknown. According to the data cited by the publication, Kh-101, Kh-555, Caliber, Iskander, Tornado-S and S-300 missiles were fired at Ukrainian cities.
Journalists used the following rates: X-101 – $13 million, "Caliber" – $6.5 million, "Iskander" – $3 million, "Onyx" – $1.25 million, X-22 – $1 million, "Tochka-U" – $ 0.3 million. The total cost of all drones released on October 10, according to the publication, is several million dollars.
In the first two months of the war alone, Russia fired $7.5 billion worth of missiles at Ukraine, Ukrainian Forbes wrote . This is more than 1,300 missiles – such data was then given by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar.
On the morning of October 10, Russia shelled the territory of Ukraine. The attacks were targeted at various cities, including Kyiv. According to the latest data from the General Staff of Ukraine, Russia fired 87 cruise missiles in Ukraine, 46 of which were shot down by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, on the morning of October 11, following the results of two days, 19 dead and 105 wounded were known. There is no electricity in 300 Ukrainian settlements.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called the strikes a response to the blowing up of the Crimean bridge, and also said that Russia was hitting "energy, military command and communications facilities." At the same time, rockets hit critical infrastructure, residential buildings and playgrounds. At the same time, Russian propagandists and officials began to openly rejoice at the attack – despite the loss of life.
Military expert Pavel Luzin told The Insider that Russia had been hoarding cruise missiles for a massive attack on October 10 for several months. At the same time, there are no stocks of these missiles for new similar strikes: “To sharply increase production or purchase missiles from other countries for such massive attacks as on October 10 is impossible either organizationally, or technically, or technologically. Only shelling with less advanced missiles or Iranian drones is possible, but in general they will not affect anything.”
