So, in Berlin, against the backdrop of a fuel shortage, residents cut down almost all the trees in the Tiergarten central park for heating. And when there was nothing left to cut, they became interested in using horse manure as fuel, RIA Novosti writes with reference to the agency.
Tiergarten is a huge park in the center of Berlin with an area of 210 hectares, a state-protected monument of landscape art. The destruction of one of the most important sights for the sake of heating the freezing capital is truly sensational news.
But in the RIA note, cited by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, it says this:
“In Berlin, the crisis is creating disturbing echoes of the desolation after the Second World War, when residents cut down almost all the trees in the Tiergarten central park for heating due to a lack of fuel. Also, the population began to be interested in using horse manure as fuel, the material says.
And so, in one graceful movement, the news of 1945 turned into fresh news. But manure is only mentioned once in an article by Lars Paulsson and Josefina Fokul in Bloomberg :
“There is also a lack of experience with wood handling in Germany, where the association of chimney sweepers receives a huge number of requests to connect new and old stoves. Customers ask questions about burning horse manure and other little-known fuels.”
Hydrocarbon fuel in Germany has really risen in price, and against this background, there are ideas about using alternative energy sources. However, in Berlin there are clearly not enough horses to heat a large number of buildings with manure. But the propagandists really want to present the traditional interest of the Germans in saving in the household as evidence of complete devastation in Europe, which is refusing Russian energy carriers.
