Hospitals in St. Petersburg received a letter from the city health committee, which says that medical workers need to refuse from business trips abroad. TASS and Fontanka write about this with reference to the document.
“Until further notice, the heads and employees of organizations subordinate to the health committee must refrain from business trips to foreign countries, including the territories of the CIS member states,” the letter says.
It is noted that business trips to other countries "are allowed in exceptional cases and only on behalf of the governor." As for private visits, there is also a requirement “to refrain from traveling to the territory of foreign states” with one exception – the CIS countries.
At the same time, Fontanka readers who work in hospitals claim that nurses and doctors were “strongly asked” to sign a document “not to leave the Russian Federation, including the CIS countries.”
The city committee, however, told Fontanka that the letter was advisory in nature and "aimed at ensuring the safety of employees of medical institutions." For what reason this “recommendation” appeared at all, the officials refused to explain.
The committee also noted that the letter was intended for subordinate institutions, they could not receive it in district clinics. As for the “paper not to leave”, they suggested that this was “an initiative of individual institutions, if this is true.”
Earlier, Deputy Head of the State Duma Health Committee Badma Bashankaev said that the mobilization could affect about 3,000 doctors and health workers. According to him, first of all, we are talking about graduates of military medical universities with training in the field of military field medicine, as well as doctors with combat experience. Those who do not have the appropriate training will not be required, he assured.
