The criminal prosecution of the rector of the RANEPA Vladimir Mau in the case of fraud has been terminated, RBC reports , citing two sources close to the RANEPA.
The reason for the termination of criminal prosecution is not specified. Mau's lawyer did not comment on this statement.
Mau became a suspect in the fraud case in June of this year. He was accused of embezzling university funds. At the end of June, the court placed him under house arrest.
On July 22, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow placed under house arrest Vice-Rector of the RANEPA Ivan Fedotov, who is involved in the same case as Vladimir Mau. The Mau case is connected with the cases of ex-deputy minister of education Marina Rakova and rector Shaninka Sergei Zuev. They are accused of fraud with money from the budget allocated for the development of education.
