The FSB opened a criminal case against ex-deputy of the City Duma of the city of Usolye, Siberian, Irkutsk Region, Sergei Uglyanitsa. The reason allegedly was the publication on social networks of “statements containing signs of actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliating a person.” This is reported by the publication "People of Baikal".
The case file contains the testimony of a priest, whom Uglyanitsa approached to talk to on April 11, 2022 in the church. According to the rector of the Orthodox Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Telma, Sergey Kandybin, the ex-deputy said that he wishes victory for Ukraine and is waiting for the day when Ukrainian troops will pass through Red Square. The priest said that he tried to calm Uglyanitsa, but was received with hostility.
“Our conversation with him came to a standstill and the man told me the following: “I will light candles for the victory of Ukraine and leave your church,” the priest says.
Uglyanitsa himself said that he perceived the conversation as a confession. I put a candle not for the victory of Ukraine, but for all the Russians and Ukrainians who died during the war. “The priest is also lying,” sums up Uglyanitsa.
The case file says that the FSB opened a case based on the results of a prosecutor's check, the security forces allegedly came to the priest with a photo of the ex-deputy, so that he could identify the "offender". Uglyanitsa believes that it was the priest's denunciation that became the starting point of his criminal case.
In a conversation with journalists, the priest said that he should be dealt with for “such speeches,” since the ex-deputy could be a saboteur. He also confirmed that he signed the testimony for the investigating authorities.
