“Bunk beds, first-aid kits, heaters will be brought in.” Moscow parking lots are being prepared for bomb shelters, according to Important Stories

Underground parking lots of at least two Moscow HOAs began to be prepared as bomb shelters. As "Important Stories" found out , an announcement appeared on the doors of the houses of the Moscow HOA "Atom" (Demyan Bedny Street) about the preparation of bomb shelters for "reception of sheltered". Residents are asked to free parking from personal belongings and cars until October 18, as it will be "brought into line with the direct purpose of the civil defense facility." The announcement says that the corresponding decision was made at a meeting on October 11 at the Moscow City Hall under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Pyotr Biryukov. A photo of such an announcement was published by SOTA on October 14.

A resident of one of the houses of the Moscow HOA "Kutuzovsky 23" (it is located on Studencheskaya Street), told "Important stories" that the head of the HOA was summoned to the police stronghold and told that there was an order to check all bomb shelters.

“They check everything and prepare a certain area, put benches and so on,” he says. According to another tenant, the head of "Kutuzovsky 23" in the house chat said that bunks, first-aid kits, and heaters would be brought to the parking lot.

Important Stories also has two letters from the Sochi City Department to the management of management companies. They are dated May 6 and October 11, in both, officials are asking companies to prepare shelters.

In January, even before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the propaganda publication Gazeta.Ru published an article with the headline: “The Ministry of Emergency Situations told how Russians can find a bomb shelter near their home.” The text, in addition to denying the impending Russian invasion, claimed that citizens could find out the addresses of bomb shelters. Thus, retired Major General of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Igor Yakupov stated that "you can find out the addresses of the nearest shelters and shelters at the district training and consultation centers for civil defense."

On July 12, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov stated that the addresses of bomb shelters where Moscow residents could take refuge in the event of a nuclear attack, as well as information about their number and readiness for use, are "state secrets." This statement was made in response to a corresponding appeal from the Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party Yevgeny Stupin.

Stupin specified that state propaganda and individual deputies periodically threaten foreign states with nuclear strikes, and the risk of retaliatory strikes against Moscow is increasing. He asked the Moscow government for the addresses of bomb shelters in the areas of Nekrasovka, Kosino-Ukhtomsky, Novokosino, Vykhino-Zhulebino, Veshnyaki.

The deputy mayor's reply stated that there were "protective structures of civil defense" (ZSGO) at the indicated addresses, but the rest of the information was "state secret".
