Musk says he will continue to fund Starlink satellite network in Ukraine

Elon Musk said that his company SpaceX will continue to be able to supply and maintain Starlink terminals in Ukraine for free. The entrepreneur wrote about this on Twitter.

“To hell with it… While Starlink is still losing money and other companies are getting billions of dollars from taxpayers, we will continue to fund the government of Ukraine for free,” Musk wrote.

Earlier, Elon Musk notified the Pentagon that he would no longer be able to finance the satellite network in Ukraine. SpaceX asked the US Department of Defense to cover these costs.

After the outbreak of the war, Starlink satellite Internet terminals began to operate to Ukraine and became a vital source of communication for the Ukrainian military, allowing them to fight and stay connected even when cellular communications and Internet networks were destroyed. To date, about 20,000 Starlink satellites have been transferred to Ukraine. According to Elon Musk, "the operation cost SpaceX $80 million and will exceed $100 million by the end of the year."

In April, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, was officially recognized as the richest person on Earth, his fortune reached $ 219 billion. This was evidenced by the Forbes rating. As a result, Musk overtook Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. On the third line of the rating is the French businessman Bernard Arnault. On the fourth position – the founder of Microsofr Bill Gates.
